Pack 1980 Cub Scouts End Summer with Family Bike Ride on the Columbia Trail

Posted on Sep 1 2016 - 8:08am

A group of twenty-seven from Pack 1980, supporting eleven Cub Scouts, enjoyed a quiet evening for a ride on the Columbia Trail.  The group pedaled from the High Bridge trailhead to the bridge spanning the Ken Lockwood Gorge before turning back for home.  The scouts all had the stamina to do more, but the late summer sun had begun to fade.  Next year the family bike ride may have to move to a weekend so that our young scouts can really stretch their legs!

Posted on Aug 27 2016 - 8:34pm

A good time was had by all who attended the Fishing & Outdoor Cooking summer pack meeting.  The fish were biting for some more than others, but we had a beautiful evening to enjoy our New Jersey skylands!  Thank you to Vickie Szymanski family for arranging for the use of the Hunterdon ESC facility.  Thank you to Tim Barckholtz for cooking our yummy Dutch oven desserts -  chocolate s'mores cobbler and gluten-free peach cobbler.

Pack 1980 Cub Scouts Do a Good Turn by Picking Corn to Fight Food Insecurity

Posted on Aug 27 2016 - 8:19pm

Three Cub Scouts represented Pack 1980 at Grow-a-Row's Scout Day Corn Harvest. Girl scouts may have completely outumbered Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts this morning, but our Pack 1980 Cub Scouts worked hard in the hot sun and picked far down their rows.  A total of 8,600 pounds of corn was picked. According to Grow-a-Row, that will provide over 32,000 servings to those struggling with food insecurity.  All of the corn picked was distributed to either the Community FoodBank of New Jersey or Free Farm Markets that take place across the state.
