Posted on Jul 2 2016 - 9:16pm

Rain drops did not stop our Pack 1980 Cub Scouts from having a fun time geocaching at White Oak Park this past week.  Thanks to Pack 1980 Leaders Dan McDonald and Scott Armstrong for leading this summertime activity!

Family Campout 2016 Picture Summary! Congratulations to All Cub Scouts who Earned their Rank Badges!

Threat of storm did not deter Pack 1980 Cub Scout Families from having a great time at our annual Picnic Dinner and Rank Promotion Campfire Program.  Most also camped over and enjoyed campfires, time with friends, fishing, and play on the banks of the river.  Many thanks to all who helped create lasting memories for our scouts, including:

  • Scott Wootton for delivering Popeyes Fried Chicken for our picnic dinner.
  • Jay Wieder for cooking hot dogs for our picnic dinner and frying oreos for a special treat!
  • Dan McDonald and the Webelos for leading our campfire program.  Special shout-out to Josh McDonald for leadig scouts in the "Bear in Tennis Shoes" song!
  • All den leaders and den chiefs for leading scouts all year long to advancement and then preparing scouts for their den skits.
  • Scott Armstrong for designing an awesome Pack 1980 fire ring, building the campfire, and preparing the s'more supplies.
  • Jay Wieder and Jared Beatrice for cooking egg-in-a-bag camping breakfast.
  • Cindy Barckholtz, Zac Barckholtz, and Peter Bellek for leading our Sunday morning Scouts' Own Service.
  • The bald eagle that soared along our campsite.  Scouts were in awe to see the eagle perch in a tree and then dive down to the river to pluck out the largest fish we had seen in the river...though the fish squirmed away from his talons! What a treat to close out our Cub Scout campout!

Pack 1980 Cub Scouts Help with RHA Stream Clean-up 2016

Posted on Apr 16 2016 - 8:08pm

In two hours, a small team of Pack 1980 Cub Scouts, former Cub Scouts/current Boy Scouts, and den leaders cleaned up trash throughout YMCA Camp Carr property and along the banks of the South Branch of the Raritan River.  The boys picked up plastic bags and bottles, cans and food wrappers. Some more unusual items were also found included flip-flops, a wiffle ball, an old playground ball, and a jawbone.  The annual Raritan Headwaters Association Stream Cleanup includes towns across Hunterdon, Somerset, and Morris Counties along 47 miles of local streams and rivers.
